Material Property System of Thermoplastic Polyurethane

Leave a message

The mechanical properties of TPU encompass a tensile strength range of 20–60 MPa and an elongation at break of 400–800%; furthermore, its dynamic mechanical loss factor (tan δ) remains stable within the temperature range of -40°C to 80°C. Polyester-based TPU exhibits superior oil resistance (with a volume swell rate of <5% under the ASTM D471 standard) and a tensile strength that is 30–50% higher than that of polyether-based TPU, whereas the polyether type retains over 85% of its original strength after being immersed in water at 23°C for 30 days.

Key physical characteristics include:
Abrasion Resistance: Taber abrasion loss of <20 mg/1000 cycles
Temperature Resistance: Long-term service temperature range of -40°C to 80°C
Phase Separation: Differences in the degree of phase separation result in polyester-based TPU possessing higher mechanical strength.
