In the development of eco-friendly TPU, the substitution rate for bio-based polyols has reached 30%–45%. For instance, the mobile phone case industry in Shenzhen's Huaqiangbei district has already adopted bio-based TPU materials on a large scale; their annual shipments account for half of the national total, while the carbon emissions of their products have been reduced by 22%–35%. Furthermore, high-temperature-resistant TPU grades-developed specifically to meet medical sterilization requirements-can withstand over 50 cycles of high-pressure steam sterilization at 121°C. As of the end of November 2025, Shenzhen was home to 47.7% of the nation's mobile phone case manufacturing and sales enterprises (totaling over 4,000 companies), with more than 1,300 of these firms holding relevant patents.
